Regular Sleep and Diabetes Prevention
Diabetes is a major and growing problem in this country, and like many other health problems, it is almost entirely preventable. One of the things that can help combat diabetes is regular, high quality sleep that allows your body to rest and restore itself, leading to optimal health. On the other hand, consistent sleep problems and sleep deprivation have the opposite effect.
A sleep study conducted at the University of Chicago found that even young healthy volunteers became pre-diabetic after only six days of restricted sleep. The volunteers were permitted to sleep only four hours a night during those six days; as a consequence, they became abnormally hungry due to a drop in leptin levels, a hormone that tells your brain when you are full. Because of their findings, it is believed that a lack of sleep may result in an increase of the likelihood of diabetes, as well as contributing significantly to obesity.
Since getting a good night’s sleep is often easier said than done, the Speed Sleep products are there to help - by allowing you to get a good night’s sleep without drugs or other unnatural sleep aids, and therefore helping you maintain optimal health and stay in the best possible physical condition.
