The Dalai Lama on the Importance of Sleep

Like many other intelligent individuals who understood the impact of proper sleep on their creative abilities and overall performance, the Dalai Lama recognizes the importance of a good night’s sleep. As he said to People magazine in 1979,

“Sleep is the best meditation.”

There really isn’t a more positive endorsement than that of the Dalai Lama, especially when it comes to meditation. After all, regular rest is essential for both the mind and body, so it only goes to follow that high quality sleep is a necessary ingredient of meditation - after all, both involve relaxing and clearing the mind. Furthermore, meditation can often help those who suffer from sleep problems by allowing them to clear their minds of stressful or disturbing thoughts. Individuals with high pressure jobs or other sources of stress can capitalize on the guided visualization techniques that Speed Sleep employs as well. In fact, this sort of guided experience is a great way for individuals who have difficulty meditating on their own to take advantage of all the myriad benefits that meditation offers.

The Dalai Lama also celebrated his birthday two days ago on July 6th, so why not mark the occasion by making proper sleep a priority - and besides, it is the best meditation.
